One Idea

Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life – think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success, that is the way great spiritual giants are produced.

Slickety Jim's destroyed by fire, breakfast aficionados mourn

I saw some startling photos pop up on my live Facebook feed this early morning from what appeared to be fire at Main and Broadway, a block that holds some Vancouver institutions like Slickety Jim's Chat n Chew and Lugz Coffee. The former is a breakfast spot that I frequented for its original menu and impressive collection of thrift store kitsch, so I was gutted to see it in flames. Sure the lineups were long, but food and atmosphere always made up for it. Vancouver lost a real gem today. If anything, I'm glad my niece got to enjoy a breakfast there (they had a kids menu too) before it's untimely departure.

It appears as though the fire started in Kishu Sushi, as if I couldn't hate that place enough as it is.

FIRST

After checking out Cuban Council's blog I've finally decided to give Posterous a try. Hey, if it's good enough for them... My tumblr has been great for casually posting quotes, links, images, and video, but my needs are expanding beyond the simplicity tumblr offers.

For my first post I'm sharing my photos from 350 Day here in Buenos Aires. There's no better way to tour this city than on bike, I just wish you didn't need at least a hundred other riders to block traffic for you. The city is so gorgeous—and flat—it's a shame that it's not bike friendly.
